Heightened Adrenalin Rush + Warp/Disruptor Ammo + Widow Sniper Rifle is your friend grin

ps: If you're interested, the Fire Power DLC is worth $4 or whatever it costs - gives a *very* nice assault rifle, pistol and shotgun. The shotty alone was enough to inspire me to roll a Vanguard.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood

EB's half price weekend pushed me into picking up a copy (hard to pass up at $40). Really enjoyed it, probably not quite as much as AC2, but close.

Loads more to do this time round. With the courtesan, thieves guild and mercenary side quests - the random templar side quests - leonardo's side quests - the Lairs of Romulus - leveling and maintaining recuits - buying up shops and landmarks and ofcourse the core story line, there's a rediculous amount to juggle and complete. Took me like 3 weeks to clock it.

The controls still need work, it's unbelievably frustrating trying to control Ezio sometimes, Ubi really should have worked on that. I also wasn't a fan of the increase in ranged weapons. Between the poison dart launcher, the gun, throwing knives AND a crossbow (not to mention my minions on beck and call) there was never any real need to get close to a target, which took some of the challenge and alot of the thrill out of the game.

Story wasn't perhaps as good, but it was more finely tuned, paced and acted.

Still, overall: Def worth playing.

Yeah, I thought ME2 was quite a decent sequel (which is fairly rare in the gaming industry).

I personally liked the leveling system, I'm the opposite of you Nick, I hate too many things to invest in and perfer a clear path.

I think the introduction of ammo (thermal clips) was more to balance the Soldier, they're so much more powerful than they were in ME1.

The only real issues I had with the game was the fact you lose all your upgrades when you replay through, which was kind of harsh (especially as an adept). Also the currency system was too tight for my liking. I like being able to invest time into making money early on and then revel in the fact I can buy what ever I like. (eg Assassin's Creed 2/3).

I recently played through again as my Soldier (imported from ME1) on Insanity, was actually alot easier than I anticipated. Still lost someone at the end Angry

What class are you playing through as Nick?

"37 mins was our random number of the day - if your phone call lasts exactly 37 mins, you get the delightful surprise of a bill totally exactly $105!"
6  Entertainment / Film, TV & Music / Re: Last Movie Watched... on: June 16, 2011, 09:39:07 PM
I wasn't expecting an action flick.

I called it slow because it took 10mins to get through 5mins of dialogue. It didn't add atsmosphere or drama, just drew the movie out.

I called it depressing because no matter what happens in the movie, ultimately there is no hope - no matter the bond the two form, it's not going to turn out well for either of them. I'm, perhaps pathologically, obsessed with efficiency - so the idea of two people wandering the wastes until they die is hardly my idea of a good movie.

I don't think I missed the point (I'm open to the idea though), I just think the point was poorly made. The book is probably awesome, doesn't mean the movie is.

Which point would that be?
8  Entertainment / Film, TV & Music / Re: Last Movie Watched... on: June 15, 2011, 03:05:52 PM
RED 4/5

Bruce Willis as a retired agent being hunted by the CIA. Very comical, well written and acted, enjoyed it. Also I wouldn't kick the chick from Weeds out of the sack.

The Road 2/5

Follows Viggo Mortensen (spelling?) and his 10yr old son trying to surviving in the wasteland of a post-apocalyptic dystopia. Pretty boring (very slow), extremely depressing and utterly gruesome due to pretty much everyone being a cannibal.

Battle L.A .5/5

Just bad in every possible way. How this got to the movies is beyond me.
9  Entertainment / General Discussion / Re: I just got... on: June 12, 2011, 10:35:13 PM
Had fun MC? I've always wanted to go to Japan myself, where in particular did you go?

Sounds like fun Napo, punch sarah palin for me smiley
10  Entertainment / General Discussion / Re: I just got... on: June 09, 2011, 01:50:20 AM
Thanks guys.

Not too upset, spoke to my sister (doctor) about it and she said if it were serious I'd have had another, much longer, MRI.

Wasn't all bad, they let bring my 360 in ^_^
11  Entertainment / General Discussion / Re: I just got... on: June 08, 2011, 02:37:25 PM
Out of hospital =\

Had a brain CT for some visual disturbances and had an allergic reaction to the contrast, so had to stay for observation. Since I can't have contrast, had to wait for a non-vital MRI, which returned an "anomaly" which I'm told isn't major, but still have to see a neurologist sad

/sigh  fun and games.

Man, I can't even remember the story of duke nukem - was there a story?

Am I the only one that finds it strange that society accepts brutal mutilation, physical and psychological torture & pretty much every despicable act known to man, as acceptable media........but we draw the line at bestiality!?!?

Messed up priorities people, mess up!

At any rate, I doubt there's many R18+ games in my future, but I like the freedom for ppl to play them if they wish to. Next on the agender - monitoring gaming outlets to enforce the restrictions ala smokes/grog.
14  Gaming Central / Sliced Gaming Article Repository / Re: Xbox Australia Giving Away 100,000 MS Points on: May 26, 2011, 10:44:09 PM
The point is - MS is ludicrously wealthy, and could honestly afford a $16,000 prize, for every country in the world - and not even cause a ripple in this quarters profits.

It's cheap advertising to pull FB likes, to call it a "give away" is, while semantically correct, a stretch.
15  Gaming Central / Sliced Gaming Article Repository / Re: Xbox Australia Giving Away 100,000 MS Points on: May 24, 2011, 04:10:39 PM
Wow - $1600!

MS is worth what, 500 billion?

Epic giveaway, really.
16  Gaming Central / Sliced Gaming Article Repository / Re: Gears of War 3 Tops 1 Million Pre-Orders on: May 24, 2011, 04:08:51 PM
It's one of the few games that I play exclusively for the SP.

I hate the MP, really any 3rd person based game sucks in shooter MP IMO, but I do really like the SP.

Haven't pre-ordered, but I'll definitely be clocking it.
17  Gaming Central / Sliced Gaming Article Repository / Re: Modern Warfare 3 Debut Trailer on: May 24, 2011, 04:06:50 PM
Gonna fail hard, crash and burn even, IMO.

Must say I'm rather shocked to hear of this so early, I thought Activision/IW founders were still waiting for thier court date, let alone finished with the legal matters.

Perhaps Activision is counting their chickens on the ownership to the MW franchise a little soon?

Either way, EA is sinkin big money into Respawn - If they can get a trailer out before Nov, I won't even bother lookin at reviews for MW3.
18  Gaming Central / Multiplatform/General Gaming / Re: Next-Gen Game format on: May 22, 2011, 10:05:08 PM
In all honesty, when we're payin upwards of $100 a game, I think the greedy publishers can fork out for a 50gb USB drive today, let alone in future.

In 3-4 they're gonna be worth next to nothing with 5-10-20TB storage available. (Given current speed of improvement).

I'd wouldn't be surprised to see HDDs become the new medium. There's already several franchises of movie rental outlets that use them.
19  Gaming Central / Sliced Gaming Article Repository / Re: Steam Introduces Daily Deals, Removes You Of Your Money on: May 18, 2011, 12:23:45 PM
Doesn't cost em anything to move merchandise - don't know why they haven't done this earlier.

Queer! =p
21  Gaming Central / Sliced Gaming Article Repository / Re: Mass Effect 3 Allows Gay Romance For Shepard on: May 17, 2011, 03:18:51 PM
Probably because in the simple, simple minds of those against same-sex relationships, if it's in the past it can't hurt them.

I demand a study of gamers to see how many engage in m/m rships in RPGs!

Capitalism - The giant "FK U!" of the 21st century.
26  Gaming Central / Sliced Gaming Article Repository / Re: Mass Effect 3 Delayed Until 2012 on: May 05, 2011, 04:50:28 PM
First Reaction: BOOOOOO!!!!!

Rethought - It's nice to see Bioware give a damn about the quality of work they do (unlike some), and even more refreshing to see EA give them the space they need, instead of seeing the franchise as $ symbol. *coughactivisioncough*
27  Gaming Central / Sliced Gaming Article Repository / Re: Nintendo Confirms Next Home Console on: April 27, 2011, 02:15:47 PM
I'm sure it's in development, but there really isn't the need yet.

Since when has *anything* in the gaming industry been based on "need"? If another Wii is going to hit shelves, you can bet MS (perhaps not Sony) will be doing everything in their power to counter it, regardless of the market. I wouldn't be surprised if MS atleast showed plans for the XB3 - if only to tempt buyers into not forking out for the Wii2.
28  Gaming Central / Sliced Gaming Article Repository / Re: 'External Intrusion' To Blame For PSN Downtime on: April 27, 2011, 02:12:35 PM
They bothered to take down Sony's websites after Sony sued the guy that jailbroke the PS3 and was granted a subpoena for the IP addresses of people that had visited the guy's blog.

Yeah but that was in response to capitalism and greed on Sony's behalf - what has Sony done recently to piss them off?
29  Entertainment / Film, TV & Music / Re: Last Movie Watched... on: April 26, 2011, 11:12:32 PM
Fast and Furious 5 - 3/5

Not as good as the first or third, but infinitely better than the 2nd and 4th. TBH, I got hooked in by the trailer of Vin Diesal vs The Rock....comon - It's like Arny vs Arny!
Bit more serious and down to earth than the others, but the major car scene is utterly ridiculous, entertaining, but ridiculous. Physics have just gone completely out the window.
