Open Water

Based on the true story of the 2 yanks left at the Great Barrier Reef...not much of a story to it but some truly chilling scenes...not an overly long movie- it falls down a tad in character development- theres also no real closure to it all...but the scene at night with the sharks...damn! Nice feature on the DVD about how they made it- bugger all crew, filmed digitally and it took them 2 and a half years- mainly filming on weekends! Also, the actors were actually in the water with live sharks!

Transporter 2

more far fetched then the original, but an ok movie. Jason Statham is well suited to this type of role

remake of assault on precinct 13, starring ethan hawke and laurence fishburne(the guy who played morpheus?). pretty good i liked alot of the action scenes, and acting was pretty good IMO.

3/5

also saw hellboy

good acting, some good lines thrown in, basically what you would expect from a comic book to movie transformation.

Just saw Wallace and Gromit- Curse of the Were-Rabbit, and I must say, I was nearly put to sleep... Meh... Not up to the usual standard of the series IMHO...

I watched "The Transporter" on Sunday night for the first time (it was on TV). I was pretty much disapointed with how it went - hell, it started off with so much potential - about a guy who transports criminals from one place to another for a cost. But what happened to the story?
3/5 - Starts good, ends atrociously.

Tupac: Resurrection

Nice Documentary about Tupac, although slightly biased...No matter, it was good anyway.

In Good Company

Young punk (Topher Grace- 70's Show) takes the top job from an aging "dinosaur" (Dennis Quaid) at an advertising division of a sports mag- punk then starts shagging dinos daughter (Scarlett Johhanson- The Island)...

Expecting a rom-com but it was a little different to what i expected...Topher was in 70's Show mode- in fact, he always is! Hopefully we see another side of him when he takes on the villian role in Spidey 3...Bit disappointed with the sudden ending- though kudos for not going the stock standard happy ending route...some laughs- but it border on a black comedy

3/5

Would've been the last half of chronicles of riddick...
I couldn't really rate it but it seemed pretty good from what I saw, looked good anyway.

OK I'm just watching the R rated Japanese cult classic Battle Royale atm ( the movie that inspired Tarantino's Kill Bill) - if anyone likes foreign films, then this is definately one to see.

Edit - 4.5/5 ; an  interesting, if maybe a little controversial movie directed by one of Japans well known directors', Kinji Fukasaku.

Heat

Street-savy cop (Pacino) tries to track down ultra-slick crew (De Niro, Kilmer, Sizemore) who are planning a 13mill bank heist...

Fantastic movie...great performances alround and one of the best shoot outs put to film...the only thing i was a tad disappointed with was the ending and the way De Niro went down- its a trait of Michael Manns- i hated the ending to Collateral

Seven Samurai

4.5/5 ; an old, but classic Japanese movie made in 1954 about a village that hires seven samurai to protect it from bandits. Another must see.

hated it- i thought the whole movie had shown TC to be this badass hitman who was calculating and cold- and then he goes all gung ho and lets a civilian take him out...if TC had been in character like he was most of the film- JF wouldnt have seen him coming!

In my opinion, it was the way that Foxx asked questions about who he was and why he does it that unnerved him, made him vulnerable.

Sure, a little far-fetched, but I believe that the development of the movie was subtle enough to let it slide.

Very good movie. Next one you have to see is Six String Samurai - it's not a rip off... but kinda. Set in alternate time where elvis didn't die and became king... until only recently he died, and so they have to find a new king, with music. The Seven String Samurai sets off on some journey Tongue

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow

Just quite doesnt work...the visual style of the movie ends up detracting from it in the end and unfortunately very little was put into the plot...about half way through tey inject some light humour which works well- but too little, too late i'm afraid...

Better than I expected, to be honest. Will Ferrell was hilarious, and creepy. Good for a laugh - another Frat Pack movie.

Four Brothers

Great storyline, excellent action sequences. Mark Wahlberg is suited to the "im a good guy at heart but I act bad" role. All 4 main characters, adopted brothers seeking revenge for their mothers killing, are well suited to their roles. A must see movie, so far IMHO up there was one of the top 5 movies of the year.

Ong Bak

Damn, if you like martial arts movies this is a must see. The story is pretty standard (Big city gangstas steal the head of a sacred statue, one villager is sent to retrieve it, huge fight scenes ensue). There's some really great fight scenes in this movie, and best of all it's real (No strings etc.)
