Great movie, I've seen it a few times but I've only ever known it as The Professional. Maybe Gary Oldman over- acts due to the nature of his character, who knows. lol

It was released in Europe as Leon- the US and here as The Professional...interesting extras also- how they cut out the scene where Mathilda says she wants to have sex with Leon in the US release as when they tested it everyone was laughing...bit to sensitive for the US audience....

Garden State

Zach Braff and Natalie Portman were excellent in this movie. Lots of laughs and a great storyline. Best line "someones been pissing on my gamecube and Ive almost cracked the case"

just watched kingdom of heaven and kungfu hustle yesterday
kingdom of heaven was a surprisingly good movie - i thought critics panned it, but i might be thinking of the king arthur movie - orlando bloom and jeremy irons did really well in it, as did siddig el fadil (alexander siddig) who played dr julian bashir on deep space 9 grin

kungfu hustle wasnt as good as a thought it would be - the storyline was wierd and kind of all over the place, but the fight scenes and special effects were magic grin

Ghost in the Shell
- A classic anime film that follows the storyline of a small team of mostly cybornetic police officers who are trying to capture and put a stop to a brain hacker of the name, the "Puppet Master". With brilliant animation and unforgettable action and psychological scenes, Ghost in the Shell combines a storyline with the idea of a future that doesn't seem to farfetched with some real philosophical questions throughout.
4.5/5
(can't wait for the sequel to arrive on DVD; the series "Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex" is also worth a look and has been airing on SBS television for quite some time)

I didn't think Constantine was too bad. About a 3 or 3.5 out of 5 for me.

Taxi Driver (R)
One of De Niros earlier movies... he takes the role of Travis, a Taxi driver in... ermm, a city, with lots of nasty people around the place. Most of the movie is just him thinking, although after he meets Iris, a 14 year old prostitute (well after he sees her a few times and then meets her) his life is turned around etc etc. Quite dark and the end is... unexpected really. He ends up wanting to end his life but instead makes it better while... trying to end his life?
I'd give it a pretty high score... 4 or 5.

Revolver

Written and Directed by Guy Ritchie, the guy who did Snatch and Lock Stock and 2 Smoking Barrells, Revolver is another gangster type film but unlike the previous 2 movies it is more deep and reminds me of Fight Club. Throughout the movie there are a lot of scenes that dont make sense at the time but at the end of the movie you find out why. You really need to think while watching Revolver. Jason Statham once again delivers a great performance and is helped with good performances from Andre Benjamin and Ray Liotta. In the top 5 of movies I have seen this year. Recommended for people who like to think.

Doom

Wasnt the best film, was too dark so couldnt see alot in the movie, they changed the story from what it is on the game, on the plus side the chick was hot, was the white chick from Die Another Day, and there were some funny bits

Star Wars Ep3: Revenge of the Sith

Awesome- best movie of the year so far- great transfer too...the extras are ok- i wanted a similar doco to the Ep1 one- but we get a doco on what it takes to make one 50 sec scene in the Mustafar battle- which is excellent...the commentary is not as good as previous efforts also....the doco on the creation of Grievous was cool- especially some of the lame designs they came up with! Excellent movie and the saga is now complete on DVD- now for an ultra SW marathon!

Hustle & Flow

Wow what a great movie, independent films always make hollywood "blockbusters" seem like crap. Terrence Howard did an excellent job as D-Jay, a pimp who wants to get out of his pimp lifestyle and get into music. Strong supporting cast including Anthony Anderson, Taryn Manning, DJ Qualls & Isaac Hayes. Great storyline and kept me watching. So far its the best movie of the year for me.

Life Aquatic

Had some indifferent reviews but i thought it was pretty piss funny...Bill Murray was awesome- the only thing i didnt dig was the cheesy animation in the underwater bits- a tad Yellow Submarine- but it cheapened it somewhat...

While the performance from Foxx is solid- the move labours along and is quite uninspiring...strictly a by the numbers affair...he sure was good with the ladies though...

"Boogeyman" -
I picked this up because I wanted to watch a newly released horror/thriller and so I naturally chose what one critic featured on the DVD called "Possibly the scariest film ever". I found that this film was possibly the complete opposite of that statement and what the movie forces down viewer's thoats is horrid claptrap about some guy who thought the "Boogeyman" took his father away when he was 8 years old and he never really got over it.
A badly compiled film with lame 'twists' and only a tad suspenseful.

1.5/5 (well, maybe 2/5)

EDIT: I just remembered that this film only went for an hour (including the credits) - I mean come on! :2funny:

Serenity

Really cool effects. Great scene in space with Reapers. Involving story. I really enjoyed it.

Terminator 3

Again, cool exploding stuff. Female terminator was a good change. A bit of a dodgy ending, left room for a sequel, I guess.
