So Doom comes out October 21st in the states (crept up on us, eh?)
It's starring The Rock, hopefully he's had a few more acting lessons.
Do you think we'll see that game > movie conversions are just as bad as movie > game conversions?
I hear there's a Splinter Cell movie in the making and there's always rumours of a Halo movie, I'm wondering whether maybe the Splinter Cell series may spark a bit of competition for the future of the James Bond series now that Pierce has called quits.

What do you mean "rumours" of Halo movie - it's practically confirmed.
DOOM....could be okay. Meant to be gory, which is good. One question mark - apparently at the end their's a part where it becomes first person, like in the games. Um.........okay.

Don't mean to offend the Rock. But he doesn't look too right for the role. His shots look weird. Maybe it's because i'm use to a certain look.
And I always thought looking back at the previous Doom games there was always a Van Damme resemblance. In fact isn't that who they kind of built the character upon.
I'll wonder wehen it hits Australia or the Middle East for me.

The Rock is going to star in another game to movie conversation. This time in a movie version of the classic 80s game Spy Hunter.

THEY'RE MAKING SPYHUNTER!? F' that for a joke. It was an awesome game I had on the NES, but it had no story at all. You were a car or sometimes a helicopter I think and went round blowing stuff up.

SO.?
Half of the world's worst movies have hit no.1 at the box office in the first week. And it's riding off the video game success more than the Rock's in my view.
It's always a big draw for most blockbusters in the first week, then they go down or up depending on popularity.

i agree with jpw there - most of the the last few years crap movies have hit #1 at the box office - the funny thing is, #1 just means you came out in front of the other movies - you could have made $10 million (peanuts in movie land) and your next competitor $9.9 million, and you win - it doesnt take into account profit margins.
sad thing is people still go and see these movies so the movie studios will continue making them. BOYCOTT THE SHITNESS PEOPLE!

Walking Tall is quite good. It's not as actiony as his other efforts but I still enjoyed it. I can't believe Blockbuster are still flogging it as a "new release".

I haven't really enjoyed any of the Rock's movies too much.
Walking Tall was very much average.
Rundown was good for the moment.
Be Cool. Give him credit, one of his best comedy roles to date. In a movie that is. Not to mention he outsold Travolta and Thurman. They practically stunk the movie.
The Scorpion King. An alright epic, with a few great moments. Just thought the ending was a bit overdone.
The Mummy Returns. Not really a role. But he did a good job for his first film.
