I know this is early for talk about Zelda, but this seems to be the flavour of the month and I just want to hit on it now.

Looking at the amount of time it takes to create a Zelda game these days and the close calls is there any chance we could see another Zelda game by the end of this genaeration. There's no doubt in my view Zelda is one of Ninty's top franchises and one of their best assets to the market.

And despite TP being over in a few months for me, i'll always be thrilled to play it again, but what about the rest.

The average lifespan of a console is 4 to 5 years in this day and age. This age is getting shorter and shorter due to technology and popular demands. Can Zelda fans survive 5 years without another Zelda title. We all know how hungry we can get when it comes to Zelda series. And 1 game each gen isn't enough.

Of course the GCN era did spawn Wind Waker and a few short versions of a new Young Link. But the Four Swords hardly managed to measure up to Wind Waker.

But last time Ninty managed to pull 2 Zelda titles in one GEN was the N64, and they just made it to what I remember.

But anyway moving on, do you reckon this will be the only Zelda for this generation or will there be a close call for a second?

There would have to be a second, considering TP was mainly written for GC, and then redone for the Wii. So in a way TP is not even the first complete "Wii only" Zelda.. I am sure there was plenty of stuff they left out in the end for a probable sequel on the Wii.

I'd say Nintendo secretly started working on the new Zelda game almost a year ago considering TP was basically finished back then.  They'd have to create a whole new graphics engine and stuff for it too coz TP was already out of date when it came out.  Not sure how much better then Wii's graphics can get though, but i'm sure whatever Nintendo cook up will look stunning... I wouldn't expect it any time before the next Halo or GTA game though.. Maybe not even before Half-Life 3.

My guess would be mid to late 2008.  You just know that something big will come out on the 08/08/08... lol

I can see Halo 3 coming out on 07/07/07 considering Bungie has an obsession with the number seven.

i would hope a new zelda cames out that uses the wii's graphics, controller scheme and online capability a lot more
tp is basically a gcn game on a bit of the roids - made for the wii from the ground up, the game might have been very different, and/or better

Nintendo has already said they're working on it. Hopefully it uses the cel shaded look again. Good art direction is greater than graphical horsepower any day.

Yeah no Cell Shading!!! I reakon it could look alot better then TP, usually 2 years into a console you see the graphics getting better and better.

Dont no how a online zelda will work, but it would be cool

Yes, there will be another Zelda by the end of this generation. There was two for the GameCube and two for the N64.. We'll see another two on the Wii.

You can't really count 4 swords as a Gamecube game..  or a new game, really... *shrug*

was just an old game revisited with slight changes.

Did you play Four Swords Adventure?

And yes, TP counts as a GameCube title. Everyone here was bitching because it's not really a Wii title in the first place!

I actually liked Wind Waker to be honest, sure the whole cel shaded made it look cheap and childish but it was really interesting to see a Zelda game in a new light and how it would work.

Plus it still manbaged to be addictive and fun in my view, sure the sailing did put me off a lot of the time, and the shards of the triforce quest was awfully long, it still proved to be a good Zelda game. Definitely not one of the best but good nonetheless. Kind of like Majora's Mask was for me.

Apparently Nintendo started on a new Zelda a year ago. I'm not sure though. A friend of mine (nintendo fanboy and scans the internet for info) told me this. He will probably find an actual link with info about it or disproving it eventually.

I don't know though i'm just a couple turtles.

400 = more than a couple.

Four Swords Adventures was awesome.

Cel-shading didnt make Wind Waker look cheap.

cel-shaded zelda was another reason for people without gamecubes to not buy a gamecube for zelda.. I nearly didn't buy one, but in the end i gave in to Zelda.

Facts don't lie.. If the Gamecube was a normal console it might of sold as well if not better than the xbox.

Next Zelda underway for Wii, Hourglass delayed?

Fans may have waited years for Link's latest outing in Twilight Princess, but according to the latest edition of overseas magazine Game Informer, the next epic adventure may come sooner rather than later.

The mag writes, "Our sources tell us that the next installment in this series has been deep in development for around a year," but adds, "It's highly unlikely that Nintendo would release two Zelda games a year apart, but don't be surprised if this game comes up sooner than you think."

Link's next Wii adventure won't be coming before Nintendo DS owners are treated to The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass though, which had previously been delayed until early next year. GI

These claims remain totally unconfirmed, so don't hold your breath. But, be sure to stick by for more on the future of now states that the game will instead be released in mid-October of next year, while others suggest that it'll undergo a reworking during the extra time. Zelda.

Okay I guess the discusssion is over now. I put the same topic on Neoseeker and found this from one of the members.

yeah PH is looking like end of 2007. As our old friend Link reminded me Saturo said that they were making both a mario and zelda for the Wii long before they had decided to do TP for the Wii... might've been working on it the whole time?
