If you are going to impose censoring words, do so that the original word still retains its meaning.
You've censored sh*tty to say "Target". WTF?
Also f*ck is "thats rude".
The least you could do is replace the words that still retain the meaning. If someone says "That's sh*tty" it's going to come out "That's Target". The reader of that thread is going to have no idea wtf that poster is on about.
Personally I find censoring completely silly and useless (Firstly, the "childen" who may happen to visit these boards have to be 13 anyway. It's not like the "You can only drink when you're 18!!!" law. Words have no age limit. And secondly, these words, thether one likes them or not, are apart of people's vocabulary.), but I understand why it is done (Not really...).
But senseless words that have no meaning or relevance to the word you are censoring is just stupid.

Yes, I am well aware why you, and many other forums, justify censoring words (I don't know if this forum is the same, but most forums require you to be at least 13 upon signing up.). My problem isn't with that. It's with the fact that the words replaced when saying these words do not convey the original meaning. "Target" and "thats rude" could mean any number of words or expressions.

Better reading a remark such as "that's rude" then seeing a bunch of curse words thrown at you. I don't really try to curse too much on forums. I don't see the point.
None of us are serious with what we say. And You don't know me, and I don't know you. So why should I bother what anyone says to me on a forum.
Basically why do you need to swear? What's the point?

Basically why do you need to swear? What's the point? That's like saying "What's the point of using words like crap?". Words are used to show expression or meaning. Despite what you might believe, swear words have multiple uses and can often emphase your feeling far better than any alternative word. I don't think it's appropriate to drop fck a few times in a sentence as you a freely holding a conversion (Like my brother does...) but swearing can help you express your feelings much better than saying "that's crap". Is it needed? Not really. But neither are half the words in the dictionary. Each offer an alternative way to express yourself or convey a meaning. Some people are not offended by swear words. Some are. Unfortunately the people who are offended get preference over the people who are not. It doesn't matter if this is changed or not, I just thought I would offer my feedback. |
