Hit or Miss. LM: Pursuit of Happyness
«

Try your hardest to avoid spoiling a movie for others. Thisd is kind of like Unpathetic/Pathetic, except this is to movies that are out in the weeks coming, I feel a thread like this will help you make the correct choices on where to spend your allowance or $15 rip off movie ticket.
Hits and Misses will be announced on the Saturday.
You can also add to the list and discuss the movies as long as you don't spoil it. Totally.
BUt for now seeing seeing as Saturday has already gone. I'll just pass on the hits and misses supposedly for this week.
Hits
Click
starring Adam Sandler, Kate Beckinsale, Christopher Walken and David Hasselhoff. Oh and a cameo by Australia's own Sophie Monk.
Adam Sandler plays a busy architect who has little time for his wife and kids. When he is given a magical remote control, he finds he can fast forward and rewind to different parts of his life.
Possibly Adam Sandler's best performance and i've taken the liberty of not ruining the suprise voiceover for Sandler's life. I wish I had a voiceover from that guy.
Miss
Over the Hedge
Bruce Willis, Garry Shandling, Steve Carrel, William Shatner, Avril Lavigne, Catherine O' Hara, Eugene Levy, Wanda Sykes, Nick Nolte, Allison Janney, Thomas Haden Church
A group of woodland friends awakens from a winter nap to discover that suburbia has encroached on their world, but an opportunistic raccoon shows them how to make the most of the new humans that have moved into their neighbourhood.
Kids will possibly enjoy this, but teens and adults will most likely not be fooled and find a little bit under par for Shrek creators.
Edit: some changes to thread.
LM: Latest movie.
And now it's been cut down to Hit or Miss.

actually in the Sun Herald yesterday a critic gave it a 7/10. And said it is one of Sandler's better roles.

Well, I saw Click today and it was far better than what I expected.
I'll rate it 8.4/10
I sort of agree that the ending was a little cheap though.
Christopher Walken and the 'commentary' feature of the remote really made the film IMO

yeah i saw click. i thought it was pretty good but the ending was terrible. it was a very bad way to end the film, as it had no actual relevance to the film itself, meaning there was no REAL plot in the film. soz if im spoiling it for ppl who havent seen it

Hits for Fans. Miss for Critics.
Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man's Chest.
This has done really well at the box office, granted this one is slow moving, and is hard to grasp it's sill enjoyable and is a reasonable sequel. It's much like Xmen 2 was, good but not as good as the first. Plus there are some really good moments. Don't go expecting a Black Pearl hit, but go expecting a reasonable hit. I hope they patch it all up in the 3rd though. Also rumours are coming around there could be a 4 to 6 now. Depp says he would love to do more. Bloom sounds alright with it. Saying he would sign if there was a good role, and maybe Knightley couldf sign too, after all Pirates did kick off her career.
I don't want to see too many movies, it could ruin the genre, but if they can be like Black Pearl was and as long as Sparrow is around, and it's good Pirate action then I say wohoo!
It's only natural Critics would praise the first, and hate the sequel. But there's still one more.
Last night this site went over some changes, so i'll just say this again. I'm planning to see Hoodwinked, I also noticed I think it was Kenny who said something was a miss in the US, I had no idea to what was he referring to though.
Was it Hoodwinked or Pirates 2.

BIG MISS!
You, Me and Dupree
Just saw this movie today. It's a bladdy crapfest. This shouldn't even be classified as a comedy. Granted there are some nice touches, and well thought out, but it's pretty much laboured at a slow pace. All the best parts have been ruined by the trailer, the moments aren't as good as you think. The only good thing this movie has going for it was Kate Hudson's skimpy swimsuit. Dillion's paranoia isn't too bad, and you can understand why it's there. But also Dillion asnd Hudson do a switcharound of roles and it's a horrible switcharound. Also as for Douglas playing the father in law, it's very odd
to what he asks from Dillion's character, Carl. He wants to keep the family name with his daughter, and possibly in the future, yet when Carl mentions kids, Thompson(Douglas) suggests Carl to get a Vasectomy.
Dupree(Wilson), hardly has any good jokes up his sleeve, but takes a good journey, and proves to be a really good public speaker. He gets along alright with the role, but it's hardly satisfying enough. Wilson can't seem to hold himself on his own.
As for Hudson, her character is nothing special, but she's got a great look, and that's all that matters.
27%.

Owen needs to be part of a Duo, sadly he can't sell on his own.
I said 27% cause it felt some significance. lol. Then I remembered the reason why, it was released on the 27th lol.
But I was going for something in the 20 to 30% range. I just didn't like this movie, and Comedy seem to of hit a huge bombshell lately.
Though The "Thank you for smoking" looks really good. And I reckon a lot of non smokers will really enjoy this film.
Also saw the trailer for Snakes on a Plane. looks really good. Talking about all the movies, and then they go "but none will have these."

Owen is a good comedy actor, though a bit overused I reckon. Zoolander was definitely the best for him and benny.
Hoodwinked is supposed to be hilarious I hear, and Click was apparently sad.

saw Hoodwinked.
I kind of like each version of their story. How they all ended up where they were. And how they all ended up connecting. And I kind of had an idea about the twist, not to hard to spot it, so predictable. It was quite clever though, but it felt kind of lame at the same time. They really didn't push it around that much.
I felt they could of been more creative though. The G rating should of been pushed up to PG, to make them have more fun, and really shine. The animation is very dodgy.
I would rather Pixar or Dreamworks to do this idea, but try and make the so called twist, a little bit harder to guess.
There are some good jokes, some teens and possibly adults will get better then children. Though everyone can enjoy the turtle joke.
Tree falls down.
Turtle 1: RUN!
The Turtles start "running" as fast as they can.
That's the best joke, besides the way Granny ended getting tied.
And the whole wolf reacting to the Criticisms made by Red.
And the Woodsman entrance was classic. I always wondered how he ended up in the house to save the day. lol.
Anyway. Some good stuff, but also very boring stuff, and not enough jokes. Clever twists, and stories but too predictable, when you think about it.
I'll meet you halfway though. It's half and half in my view.
50%. Pretty good for a Children's movie though.

Apparently the movie Hoodwinked started out with a couple guys in an apartment doing the animation on their own computer (with no experience), so given that I give them credit for the level of animation they managed to get to, even if still not very good.

Miss
Thank you For Smoking
A light hearted comedy, with a few good moments, but nothing too special. I did enjoy it nonetheless, but it was really lacking with the edge. They make a good argument but it doesn't last too long. Wiliiam H. Macy is the real stinker in this though. And I loved the part where they go, "It kills me to say this... but cigarettes saved your life." Sadly they didn't save this movie.
65%.
Good comedy, reasonable story, and that's about it, nothing much else. Sad, I really thought this could of been good for non smokers, then real smokers.

Finally got around aroung seeing Snakes on a Plane.
MISS
To me it's a miss. only required for those who want some good humour for the time, or feel like watching a B movie. If you can see this for half price like I did, that way you wont feel too ripped off.
It's alright, kind of freaky, a lot of snakes, overdone with Snakes actually. Some weird stuff, I 'm pretty sure I saw the same guy die 3 times. And there's some stuff I didn't agree with.
SPOILERS ahead.
Dog being thrown at the snake(by the way it looked like a baby anaconda). That was a bit cruel, as much was the honeymoon couple getting taken out by Snakes. But I guess that what passes for humour these days.
Coolest thing I thought was was the hole being made. Some intense action there, plus it was so cool, seeing all the snakes fly out.
Still I will give it a reasonable rating.
70%.

Sorry for the double post, but I saw Snakes on a Plane yesterday and was VERY impressed ^_^
Great, hilarious film of whimsy, silliness and great action. Overdone with the snakes, JPW? Well, any less and you'd be wanting your money back. And I don't know what guy you thought you saw die three times. I saw nothing of that sort.

okay, it did have good song at the end, it always nice to see something different at the credits. Rather then just a boring blank screen with all the names. I'm thinking about seeing it again anywhere, might throw in a better rating afterwards.
anyway, new movie this week.
I was going to see Dead or Alive. Holly Valance my main reason, but looking at the queue, and thinking about the fact that I wasn't even a DOA fan, I decided to see another movie. I almost wish I stuck with Dead or Alive.
Miss
Lady in the Water
It isn't exactly a miss, it started off really well and drew you into the story. However the connections were very bad, and it didn't take them too long for all the people to believe him. He says there's a Narf that lives underwater, this lady came from underneath and we're supposed to help her, oh my god I believe it. The plot gets lost in my view. There was one part that scared the living daylights out of me, and the that's when the creature jumped broke the window, you know it's going to happen and you're ready for it, but nothing of that sort can prepare you for how scary that moment is.
I also amazed at Mr. Heave's stupidity. I could pick out the Guardian, Symbolist, interpreter and the guild the moment I heard about them. I'm guessing they just made it go that way, just so it could be longer, and they could create a disadvantage.
I never read the book, but it did seem like a good story, I just found the whole ordeal a bit boring. Don't know why people were clapping though(yes people clapped after it finished) maybe for sarcasm.

Saw " The Devil Wears Prada" and realised a few scary things about me. No i'm not gay so don't worry.
I realised if given the opportunity to get ahead I would take it, and I wouldn't care who I hurt, or what I lost.
Not like Andy, oops.
Oh well ending was predictable. Typical Hollywood ending.
Anyway, in my view it's a HIT! A nice relaxing comedy. Better suited for a chick flick and for couples. Nice typical deal.
Meryl Streep plays the killer boss quite well. Though there are some missed moments when she could of been more deadly.
Anne Hathaway plays her role quite nice. And actually looks nice. And really puts in a good performance for her age and time. hough it isn't a breakthrough much like her makeover it's still good enough.
Rest of the characters do quite well, and I enjoyed but at the same time I felt pity for the role reversal, or Andy replacing the other/first assistant Emily. but it shows what happens when you do a good job.
I'm really confused about the importance. but it's nice for the time and a good reasonable comedy drama, and it helps you determine what kind of person you are. For example if you feel no remorse, for Andy(Anne Hathaway) and don't see Miranda(Meryl Streep) as a b.i.t.c.h. then you qualify for the same deal as me(kind of), or moreso my alter ego. Maybe I am being cruel though, but I would of at least played it out to the end of the year or go for Vengeance.

haven't updated lately huh?
Well it's because i've been busy with work, and in a way just anticipating the Wii. And..... i've been finding really boring here.
no attention for Wrestling, Lost starts in 4 months, I really want to download them. no good threads. I'm not even sure this thread is any good.
but anyway let's get down to business and try and do my best for this thread.
Hit: Saw 3
A very thriller with once again a nice twist. I never saw the twist coming, but I did have kind of an idea of what would happen. These guys are great, and the Actors really put in their work, to make this phenomennon. iT's better then the 2nd in my view, but not better then the first. But it's still worth a watch. And it puts you through it. I really liked the connections. And the twist, the twist was so good. And all Jigsaw really cares about is his games. and we see that. Oh do we see that.
Some parts of the surgery did make me sick though. but that's how I am. And that's why i'll never be a doctor. I just can't cope with with an overload of blood.
Funny yet somehow I am still a fan of Mortal Kombat.

Good twist but I would of loved another game shown off.
Hit: The Departed
Another good twist, and very unexpected ending, sahocking you on every turn. I really liked the idea, and even though it was written off a Hong Kong film, I found this pretty alright, and thought each actor did remarkable work. Especially Mark Wahlberg playing the Agressive Cop. Matt Damon was quite intiriguing in his role, and Leo is getting better and looks like he's Scorceses's new De Niro. I also liked Nicholson's imitation of a Rat. He actually looks like one himself. The only thing I really hated about this film. Is that it's quite long.

Really got to put in the time to watch this.
Miss: Nightmare before Christmas 3D
I never really enjoyed this when I saw. And I don't say why people it's so dark. It's better seeing this on Halloween but don't expect anything oo good in 3D. It be better if it was done like Imax, where it right in your face, and you feel like you can almost touch it. I didn't get that at George Street Cinemas. But of course this movie always came up short for me, but it had a good story, it's short though. Then again so is the time between Halloween and Christmas, though what amazed me about this is the Animation. Which is just so perfect and clever. It be better hiring out the DVD, or the VHS version. There really is no difference.
54% (note: this is not my actual score for the original, this is based their attempt with the 3d work. my actual mark for the movie and its animation is 82%.) This could of been amazing, but it wasn't. I wonder if it is showing at IMAX.
