A mate and i were talking about the best game you've ever played he seem to think it was GTA San Andreas and i asked him how many times he has gone back and been through it again and he said only played it once.

I think the best game was Metal Gear Solid on PS1 the first time i finished it, it blew my mind, i played through countless times and it was like being part of a movie.

anyway that's my thoughts......(mind you i have only ever owned a ps1 & ps2)

so what do you guys think is the best game ever made and why?

Mine goes back a bit further.. Probably Fallout 1 and Fallout 2 on PC were two of my best games.

Also Silent Hill 2 on ps2..

Grand Turismo (pretty much all of them) and Tony Hawk Series (even though a lot are quite similar)

Halo 2 on Xbox is one of the best shooters

Depends which Genre you like I guess.. To be totally honest I thought GTA:SA dragged on a bit too much, and the American homey stuff was a little lame (just as I think that is anyhow), although it still was very good.

Super Metroid is amazing. That's probably the greatest game I've ever played.

if there's one game I can think of, that needs to be blamed for my addictive ways. And the reason why I am constantly looking for something better just to satisfy me. It's

Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

This game made me come back to gaming, it made me hooked, and I never got tired of it. This game made me a Zelda fan, and made me stick by Nintendo.

I finished it 7 times. 4 of those were 100% finished. The other 3 just a run through.

Thugs totally right. Im a huge fan of the MGS series, and I'm going to say MGS1, with MGS3 a close second.

Notable mentions are Diablo 2 and Half Life (when it first came out)

The games that originally hooked me on PC back when I was like 3 weren't anything great; street rod and that. Nes games were mario and all that. Mario 64 or Waverace did it for me, and it was OoT that got me into Zelda and probably gaming more than just casually I guess.

And yeah MGS was sweet back then.

Ooh, this is a tough one for me. :S

I'm going to have to go with Suikoden V. =3

It was fun from start to finish and unlike previous Suikoden games it went for a long time too. Finishing it with getting all 108 stars took me about 60 hrs. It was all so worth it though. smiley

EDIT: MGS was awesome: I still love the whole cardboard box thing! grin That and (I can't remember its name... Nikea or something pops into my head though...) the remote control missile! You could make it slowly hover up behind the enemy just so when they turn around they walk into it and blow themselves up. grin

there was a way you could get an invisible suite and you could sneak up and attach explosive to a guards back and then remote detonate it....... that was cool.......

mind you the whole cave thing with the wolves was annoying

Probably A Link to the Past. Or the original Zelda. Or Street Fighter.

Best game that I've ever played, other than WoW of course would have to be one of the first games that I ever owned & soon got very hooked on ......the classic retro game Alex Kidd in Miracle World (on the Sega Master System II),followed closely by the original Sonic The Hedgehog;still have both of them somewhere around place too. evil

hrm... A hard question, but definitely one of these i'd say:

Oddworld
Abe's Oddysee or Abe's Exodus

GTA
Vice City or San Andreas

Myst
Myst III : Exile

Elder Scrolls
Morrowind (III) or Oblivion (IV)

The old Abe's games are great, shame Munch's wasn't that good.

Too right, not only did it seem like it was suddenly aimed at a much younger audience, it didn't have the same feel to the others. Could of had something to do with the 3D game losing those awesome backgrounds from oddysee and exoddus. The early ones were all about perfect timing and even a little bit of memory. They got the adrenaline pumping lol (those fleeches, paramites and scrabs!). So much harder than that 'walk in the park' Munch's Oddysee...   Huh
I must admit those fuzzles from Munch had a couple of good points.

Yeah, I think the main thing was that it wasn't at all like the previous games. The originals could be damn hard (from what I could remember), the backgrounds, like you said, were awesome, the puzzles were both crazy and (I think) seamless with the world, so they didn't seem so much like puzzles.

+ It was sort of spooky and had the dark humour Tongue The new one seemed more like a sort of generically designed collect-em up sorta dealy to me. OH WELL.
