It frustrates me that Channel seven "wastes" 24.

Part of the enjoyment for me comes from watching a one hour episode and then waiting eagerly for a week for the cliffhanger to be resolved.

But channel 7 puts it in two hour blocks, twice a week - it's over in six weeks! ARRRGH!

WASTE! It's gonna rate well, why not stretch the successful show out over a longer period?!?!?!?!

They won't be able to do that this time around because the U.S. is only up to episode six (airing tomorrow there). The US showed the first four episode in a two hour, two night block.

Not really, if they want to they can show it before US show it

No they can't, and they won't. Very rarely (I can't think of a show) do Australian audiences see a US show before airs in the US. Shows created in the US are shown on US tv first, much like British and Australian shows (and every other country that creates local content)

It has happened before, I can remember it happening, though I can't recall the show(s).

And yeah, channel bt is your friend. I know it's scary, new technology and all, but trust me, it hurts the first time, but it soon feels real good.

Come on lad, let's make a man of you!

Yes we finished SG1 series 8 before US did. Also in Canada and UK they are showing new eps of SG1/Atlantis and US are on a break.

So if they want to then they can, dont say they cant because it just is not true. They bought the rights so they can air it whenever they want to.

Yes we finished SG1 series 8 before US did. Also in Canada and UK they are showing new eps of SG1/Atlantis and US are on a break.

That's because Stargate is a Canadian production (well according to zen. I hate the series so I know nothing about it).

Read what I wrote: "Shows created in the US are shown on US tv first, much like British and Australian shows (and every other country that creates local content)"

So if they want to then they can, dont say they cant because it just is not true. They bought the rights so they can air it whenever they want to.

They have rights to broadcast it, but they don't get the whole series before it airs in its country of origin. 24 has never, ever been shown in Australia before the US so thinking they might do otherwise is silly.

I'm aware there are exceptions, hence the 'very rarely', but for the most part US shows are shown in the US first. British shows are shown in Britain first. Canadian shows are shown in Canada first. You get the drift.

Anyway, this argument is utterly pointless. Seven obviously aren't showing any 24 episodes before the US so you're wrong.
