Every company does it, why are you specifically picking on Sony? :S But yes, those starter packs can be annoying... you can just sell the games I guess. The second controller is always nice though.

Well seeing as the PAL regions aren't getting a price cut..i don't think that it's that bad a deal..$270 worth of stuff... Motor-storm and Resistance are both great games and almost all gamers who buy a ps3 should own these 2 games. Also..who won't buy a second controller at some point after buying a ps3...? I have already spoken to about 6 people who are going to buy a ps3 now because of the starter pack being released.

Controllers are pointless when you're going to need to buy them all when they release the rumble controller later on. Of course, you don't have to buy them again, but who wants to play Metal Gear without rumble?

Are you sure they're even going to release a rumble controller? With the tilt functions in MGS4 wouldn't rumbling (from background explosions, etc) result in the activation of the tilt system and hence unwanted actions?

That's what they say, but then all you have to do is look at the Wii.

pissed coz it's almost exactly the same bonus offer that Microsoft gave their loyal Xbox 1 fans that bought the console for launch price.. they gave them two free launch games and a dvd remote because they bought it at launch..
I'd be happy if they just gave me my Casino Royale which they said got lost in the mail. F'ing liars.

Wiimote and Nunchuck need to be purchased seperately. Classic Controller is only needed if you're playing some of the VC games. Wheels and Zappers come with their respective games and aren't needed and the Balance Board also comes with it's game, though it is needed for that particular title. And the bit about tilt sensors not working with rumble is bullshit, Sony just didn't want to pay Immersion for the licensing fees, but spun some line about it not working with their new tilt technology as an excuse. Silly Sony, people aren't that stupid.

Nope. The classic is better for them, but I've only got one and can't see myself ever getting any more.

It's a bit contradictory to say 'who wants to play metal gear without rumble?' as if there's no choice but to get another controller, but then say that the Mario Kart wheel is an optional extra and can be played perfectly fine without it.

The Classic Controller is way more suited for VC games. GC controllers can only play MOST Nintendo games, and it is badly configured so many of them. Playing Super Mario World with a GC controller is just terrible.

http://wii.nintendo.com/virtualconsole_faq.jspI had a look and apparently you only need it for Sega Genesis and maybe TurboGrafx-16 otherwise you other controllers will work. Until I need it, I don't have the money to be able to worry about badly configured controllers.

I gotta say, for a lot of games, like Contra and Mario World, it's an absolute pain in the ass to play it with a GC control because of the way they've made each button. It'd be nice if you could change the config...

Okay, so you're tense with the actions of sneaking around in MGS4, holding the controller firmly so you don't mess up and get killed. You're at a wall taking cover, an explosion goes off in the background making the controller shake and causing your wrists to move; Snake peeps out from behind the wall and gets head-shotted. If they made a rumble + tilt controller they'd have to make the rumble so subtle it probably wouldn't be worth it. Look on the bright side though: no arthritis.

Using the Wii remote to aim in RE4, the controller rumbles with each gun shot, yet the cursor doesn't waver. Turning in ExciteTruck with turbo going and rumble going nuts doesn't make the truck waver wildly. It's up to Sony to make sure the tech works because it's nowhere near impossible.

I'm more concerned with the inherent shaking by the user rather than the controller itself that might set off the tilt function. *shrugs* That's just a consideration that the people at Sony might have taken into account when they decided not to use rumble. For the amount of people who would be affected it would be a pain in the arse.

Sony got sued for using rumble. MS did too, but they paid up. Sony didn't, and now their controller doesn't have rumble. And if holding a controller that rumbles is a pain, there is always the option to turn it off. Sony's decision had nothing to do with form or function. It was purely financial, and now that they've settled, a rumble controller is not far off.

I personally don't care if there is rumble in the controllers. I know some games may be better with it in there are so many games where the rumble just doesn't replicate what is happening in the game. Atm i believe that the rumble feature isn't real enough. Also I like having a lighter controller. lol There is no questions Sony will release one with rumble. but I am a gamer who loves sports games...so when controllers with rumble come out i don't care if I have to buy another couple of controllers, they can be put to good use!

Ahh, I didn't know that part. I thought Sony and MS were in the same position to use rumble. My Bad.
