hmm.. a fresh Halo convert..
It's still ok, but yup, there are many similar shooters. And it's not all that different from the last one, which wasn't really that much different from the 1st.
I still reckon Gears of War is better..

I haven't played the first 2 halo games (besides some multi) so i had to read up about the story before playing. Halo is a trilogy so I wouldn't expect it to be too different from the previous games and seeing as I haven't played them really makes no difference for me. I've heard good things about GoW, haven't had the chance to play it yet.
I agree with insano about the 2nd last level being really crap. It does suck really more of a pain than anything, however I really liked the last level. *spoilers ahead* Especially driving the warthog over jumps and explosions, then gunning it off the last jump into the back of the pelican. *end spoilers*
I liked the ending, while showing that it was the end it left some doors open.

THIS POST IS FULL OF SPOILERS ABOUT ALL THINGS HALO!
The ending was the same as Halo 1 with the warthog driving, but in Halo 1 it made sense as you were escaping a massive space ship. In the Halo 3 ending there were those square blocks which were basically hovering in mid air and made no sense at all, really didn't fit in with the Halo world. What the hell were they? nobody is sure... so much for a realistic sci-fi trilogy =p
2nd last level was indeed a pain, I did it on heroic first time through and yeah.. one part was almost impossible with those damn roof crawling bugs.

I played through on normal and beat the final level on legendary so I could see the special ending. I am currently playing on heroic, it's a lot harder than normal for sure. Tsavo highway is giving me a fair bit of trouble atm
EDIT: yes.....those f*cking bugs are so damn annoying. If there is more than 1 around its impossible to walk out in the open before killing them. Punching them is the most effective way but you rarely get a chance in the 2nd last level. I hate how those bug things can just turn into what they want (roof turrets, big flood guys who don't die after a few rounds of most human guns etc)
The scoring system also kicks ass in co op, plenty of fun with that bad boy

I played this for the first time today but only co-op and offline multiplayer. As you can expect the 1 v 1 multiplayer was pretty boring and the co-op was OK. I am sure to really enjoy it you need to play live.

Now that all the hype's died down, is this really such a big deal? I hear all these people saying, oh, when I look at Mass Effect or even Bioshock, it seems increasingly 'meh'. So I guess my question to those of you that have it is: are you still playing it, do you love it or whatever?

I still play multi, mostly not LIVE. I've only got a LIVE trial anyway. Bioshock is definitely better if we don't include Halos multi... It is a solid game that will be played for years to come due to the multiplayer. I like campaign but I'm pretty crap at it still, legendary is too hard for me, I still need to beat a few levels on it

I played the very first Halo game a fair while ago, which of course was when I had my original xbox but just did not enjoy it. Long and behold, when Halo 3 came out I went over to one of my mate's place and played it on his X360 and I absolutely loved it! I have now got a copy of it on my X360 and Ive finished the campaign on normal (cos I played one mission on heroic and found it too hard lolz!) I now just play some matchmaking (like social slayer) and I have also recently downloaded the Mythic maps and got a few of those achievements (like claiming the orbital and sandbox skulls) Anyway, to summarise things, Halo 3 gets 2 thumbs up from me. Oh, and by the way if anyone wants to add me as a friend on X360 live here is my gamertag: cmg788.

I played Halo 3 ages ago and thought it was OK. I tried playing it again 2 weeks ago and got 2 levels in and stopped. It is perhaps the most average shooter I have ever played. The controls are sluggish, the jumping physics are ridiculous, the guns feel weak, the AI isn't, and harder difficulties just crank up enemy hit points while reducing your own, without really affecting the way enemy groups respond. The story, so far, is typical sci-fi with quasi religious themes, as per usual for Halo, which gives it an aura of deep meaning when it's really just a couple of concepts taken from the Old Testament and slapped over the top of Larry Niven's sci-fi with characters taken from Aliens.

I really can't play it now. I liked it when it came out but... but... there is much better out now. I get annoyed because I can't run, and the jumps are floaty, and the controls are a bit wack.

Well I still like to play Halo 3 because if I get tired of running on a big map like Valhalla I simply jump on a mongoose, or a warthog OR, even better, a banshee. Only thing I have to watch out for is those annoying spartan lasers & missile pods. When your flying around in a banshee you cant see the spartan laser charging up until it hits you and completely destroys your banshee. Its like, "look at me I'm flying a banshee - BOOM!!!" "Damn it!"

I'm like you, G-Train. I did not like it until Julz insisted I watched more than 10 minutes of it. Now it gives me more laughs than Simpsons and Southpark ever did.
I still don't watch American Dad or King of the Hill though.. I've tried sitting through an ep of KoTH but I just can't do it. Futurama I find mildly amusing at most..

KotH is utter junk - one of the worst animatiosn I've ever seen!
Futurama is low-brow but still has so many awesome lines.
Guess it depends on what you're in the mood for, Family Guy / American Day etc are muhc more "wrong" - Futurama is just good old stupid comedy.

Futurama is "stupid"?
There's more high-concept humour in that show than in any of the Family Guy/American Dad/King of the Hill series, not to mention nerdy, science-y, maths gags that go unnoticed.

Yeah Futurama isn't exactly what I'd call "low-brow", especially when comparing it to Family Guy, American Dad and recent Simposons.

I like Futurama a lot. It has a heart as well, moreso than the simpsons. That dog episode is pretty much the saddest thing ever. Homer's mum's episode is pretty much even with that though.
American Dad is lame, I feel.
