So my old TV had a problem.. it went away for 2 months.. it never came back  Basically was in extended warranty period so got looked at by 3rd party mob. They couldn't get the replacement board for it anywhere worldwide, so they had to write it off. Could have got same model (no thanks) or paid cash payment for value. I took cash payment, so saturday I went to about 6 stores.. but in the end ended up with a brand new Samsung PS50a650, which was delivered today. Did think of getting a 58" for a tiny bit, but was about an extra $1500, couldn't really justify that. May have actually been a little too big as well if needed to move it around later on, and LCD's are getting bigger and better all the time now, maybe in a few years I'll just get one of them in a large size. Not that much different to the old one, except looks a bit sexier on the outside. Picture quality is excellent, very happy there. |

although the fact they sell the series 4/5/6/7/8 at the same time kind of does make it confusing... new models coming in next month or two apparently

Nice Pred.
It looks similar to mine (which is S6), but it has a round base - Can you tell me if yours has a *really* long load time on the Full TV Guide function please? Mine takes like 1min to load and I'm wondering if it's my unit or just a S6 issue.

The red is not noticeable unless in a really bright room, or if you had a ceiling light shining right down from the top.. I was a little unsure of that, but I don't mind red, and like I suspected, not too noticeable at home.
Yeah, the full TV guide is very slow... it was really slow in my old one too. Not sure about 1 minute, probably about 20 seconds. I think it may be because it's got to download all the data over the airwaves, and digital TV really isn't designed for receiving lots of data, so it could just be the technology. So far I use the mini one.
Maybe people with other brands can comment on how quick their full program guides come up?

I know mine is slow cos my cousin has a S4, and it loads both SD and HD like instantly - it's f*kin awesome. You can pull up the full guide for both SD/HD TV for the next 5 hrs or more within 2-3 secs of pressin the button.
Damn S6.
