Since Activision announced not only the release of the seventh instalment of the Call of Duty franchise, but that it would be developed by the team over at Treyarch (developers of CoD5: World at War), game forums all over the world have lit up with a single question - Will Call of Duty: Black Ops have a Zombie Mode?

The answer is finally here, Yes! Treyarch revealed this week that Black Ops will indeed ship with an all new version of the beloved Zombie Mode.

"Zombies have been such a hit with our community that we were committed to bringing a brand new zombie experiences to Call of Duty: Black Ops," says Treyarch Studio Head, Mark Lamia. "We've taken extra special care to retain the essential ingredients of our Zombie game, and have also crafted a nice surprise for the fans."

Featuring up to four-player Co-op this mode pits gamers against an  unending horde of ravenous zombies. What kind of zombies is yet unknown, though we can be relatively certain the zombies will have no affiliations with any known political parties, be they fascist or other wise (Damn!).

When I heard Treyarch were developing the next CoD, I was fairly sure they would include a zombie mode - good to be confirmed though.

Hoping they fix alot of the major issues with the original though.

-> Guns should just kill in a certain number of shots & upgrading the gun at the Pack-a-punch machine doubles it's damage each time instead of the zombies becoming bullet immune by round 20.
-> You should be able to buy ammo as needed, again instead of running out half way through any round after 20.
-> Should be able to carry 3+ weapons, a rifle for long range - an SMG/AR for mid range & a boomstick of close encounters.
-> Finally, have a reason for playing it - Maybe have a max of 100 waves and 90+ is boarderline impossible, atleast it gives you something to aim for. Maybe add a player/gun model in MP for surviving 25-50-75 waves of zombies.

All that would make me a happy panda.

PS: Liberal Zombies would get my play time!

Yeahhhhhhh

I barely played it in CoD5. I know people love it because the internets told me so, but I never got the appeal. It was like a slower version of Left 4 Dead. Sure, there was tension and all, but it just didn't evolve over my gametime with it, and it didn't seem to change at all really. Unlike Multiplayer where there are a hundred billion little situations that could play out.

That said, I never played it with more than 2 people. Maybe that's why I don't get it?

Dude, it's sh*thouse with 2 ppl. That's like playing Battlefield with 2 ppl.

Nazi zombies was infinitely better than L4D1/2 IMO - for starters, it's not bloody third person. You haven't gamed until you've seen 30+ zombies electrified by the handheld tesla-coil.

Man! That would hurt your eyes.

I'm all for 3D gaming, but I think it's going to be a while before they make it worth while - this strikes me more as an extra pull to fend off MoH and the issues caused by MW2.

Could be. I actually think CoD is one of the few games that would make me want to play something in 3D. Racing and shooters - Motorstorm has satisfied one, though I probably won't play it in 3D for a good few years at least.

But CoD could be super cool. Bullets flying out at you? I keep playing ArmA2 on PC, that super realistic shooter, and thinking that 3D would literally be perfect for it - just because of the immense draw distances, the awesome firefights that break out here and there. It's really a spectacular game at times.

Also, for the record, I don't particularly care for or against 3D in movies - probably slightly against - but I think games are perfect for them. The difference? Not entirely sure - but the interactive side - being able to move around and whatnot - makes the effect a lot cooler I think.

Certainly for SP it's probably a good time to roll out 3D - As usual, I was speaking exclusively on MP. I just can't see it being worth the obvious eye strain it would cause, ATM.

Down the track it will be great, like I said - but right now, I'll stick to 2D.

Is eye strain a big thing for people? I never get it in the movies, but obviously I've never seen a 3D movie over 3 hours. Same in the living room - I've watched / played a 3D game on a TV for maybe 15 minutes total.

I think it would be cooler if a game was made for 3D. It will happen eventually I guess - but like more intense bullets smashing at you - could get pretty tense.

Yeah, really I'm only assuming it would cause increased eye strain. Mainly because I've been gaming hours a day for the past ..... almost 20 years, and I still get sore eyes from a 4hr session. Add to that the strain of my brain putting together two seperate images, and I think I'd feel pretty dizzy afterward.

Yeah, fair enough. It's true if I sit inside for a couple of days I just end up with a terrible headache.
