PSP Peripherals Confirmed
30th August 2003, 3:23pm
In a recent interview with Weekly International News, SCE president and CEO Ken Kutaragi, confirmed that Sony are planning to release various peripherals for their upcoming Handheld entertainment system, the PlayStation Portable (PSP). Two peripherals Kutaragi mentioned were a Digital Camera and a wireless phone adapter."We often call it the next-generation Walkman because it can perform many things. Not only will it be a form of entertainment but a valuable communications device."
When asked about piracy regarding the PSP, Kutaragi went on to say -
"The PlayStation group realized that besides games other contents would me made available on UMD, so we sought the opinions of content providers on the format. From the beginning it was decided that the PSP would utilize stronger AES (Advanced Encryption Standards). Various forms of protection which I can't divulge will be incorporated into the physical media itself. So we've included not only the necessary semiconductors for the PSP but also copy protection measures in the hardware. Software piracy won't be a problem if the protection system is as complicated as the one planned for PSP."
