Atari Reveals Terminator 3 Release Date

Atari has revealed that Terminator 3 will be available to Australian gamers in November 2003.

Terminator 3 will be available on PC, Xbox, PS2 as well as Game Boy Advance.

Atari, Australia’s premier source of interactive software, proudly announces “Terminator 3” for PC CD-ROM, PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameBoy Advance, published by Atari and releasing in November 2003.

Terminator 3 is a first-person action game currently in development for all major console gaming platforms as well as the PC. Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines will -- for the first time on next-generation console systems -- allow players to become the Terminator series signature icon, Arnold Schwarzenegger as the original Terminator. This marks the first time Arnold Schwarzenegger’s voice and likeness have ever appeared in a home videogame.

As a matter of fact, the producers of Terminator 3, the movie, worked very closely with the developers of the game, Black Ops. The T-900 robots used in the film were actually designed by the developers from Black Ops, who had conceptualised the T-900s based on their knowledge of the previous Terminator movies.

Peter Wyse, Senior Producer at Atari, shares some insight into what it was like to work so closely with the producers of the Terminator 3 feature film:

"We had great fun exploring the Terminator universe as we designed the game, Terminator 3: War of the Machines. Using our vast knowledge of previous designs for Terminators (we're all big fans), we set about designing a model for the world of the computer game. However, when we shared our vision with the designers for the film Terminator 3, they were so impressed that they actually took our design for the T-900 and used it in the film. It's such a thrill when we watch the film to see our design up there on the big screen! It's a perfect example of how the film and games industries are working together and shows the benefits of building good relationships from the outset of projects."

Terminator 3: War of the Machines for PC CD-ROM and Terminator 3: War of the Machines for PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameBoy Advance will be released in November 2003.
