S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Oblivion Lost News, The Weather Cyclus
23rd November 2003, 4:12pm
www.oblivion-lost.com has translated some really new info on the
day-/night-/weather cyclus of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Oblivion Lost which were
released today:
As in real-life, the sun and moon will change their positions in the sky in the course of the day, after day night will come, sunny weather will follow after rain and thunderstorm. Fog can move unexpectedly, hurricanes may occur at calm sites. Change of weather is dynamic. Wind can change betimes its directions and flows with different speeds letting leaves and trees swing. Implementing such a system is normally pretty difficut and requires a lot of power from your processor. However we managed to come up with a maximum of detail without increasing the system requirements. An intensive alteration and optimization of the renderer was required, however it was worth it! Some of the creatures won't show their face at day-time, but be hunting at night. At night, you can also do some evil things that would be conspicuous at day-time. For example you could kill an NPC-colleague and might get away with murder without anybody noticing it or your reputation being changed. But be careful and expect the same from the AI.
