Nintendo Microphone Revealed! - Gamecube
10th September 2004, 9:42pm
Famitsu, the Japanese magazine, has released a tiny snapshot of the Nintendo Microphone. The first game to use the microphone will be the latest in the Mario Party series - Mario Party 6. As you can see in the picture, the microphone will plug into the memory card slot.A minigame has been revealed to demonstrate how the microphone will work. In one minigame, one player yells launch to fire missiles at the other three players. Obviously, this is only one of the most basic of the minigames to be included.
One thing that is puzzling is the way that you would control direction using the microphone. Perhaps it can be propped up in front of all four players, and the normal controllers are used in conjuction. A cooler option, and not entirely implausible, would be a microphone with an inbuilt gyroscope. Nintendo did invest in a company called 'Gyration' a while back. Guess what Gyration specialise in? The microphone will apparently be compatible with 'Get On Da Mic'.
Gamebiz will have more as Nintendo releases information, but until then, chat it up in the Gamebiz Forums.
