NDS Will Be Password-Free - Hardware
22nd September 2004, 10:12pm
It's seems that the irritating password or code saving of GBA games will become a thing of the past when Nintendo launches the DS. In GBA games, developers often ignored the SRAM chips that could be built into cartridges since they were expensive to produce. Well, times are changing.Nintendo has declared that NDS game card will have SRAM built-in - practically guaranteeing inbuilt save functions. The size of the SRAM will vary from 4 kilobits - half a kilobyte, with sizes all the way up to 512 kilobits (64 kilobytes). 4 kilobits is the amount the GBA had available. If necessary, even more can be added.
Of course, if developers are really lazy, they still don't have to utilise the space - though I imagine they won't be very popular with the gamers.
