28th November 2004, 10:54am
Nintendo has also raised its sales and profit forecasts for the entire year. The Nintendo DS is proving very popular, and Nintendo now expects to sell 5 million units, up from the inital prediction of 4 million. The Gameboy Advance is still going steady, with a prediction of 16 million units, up from an estimate of 14 million. The Chinese manufacturing plant that has recently been used to increase Nintendo DS production may be responsible for the rise. After all, over half of the Japanese that were expecting to get a DS would have been unable to due to lack of units. The plant itself is now aiming to create 1.5 million DS units per month starting in April, 2005. Nintendo also estimates a 90 million yen net profit, up 20 million yen.
