RUMOUR: Revolution Features

26th January 2005, 2:32pm
New rumours regarding the Nintendo Revolution (successor to Gamecube) have surfaced. Some of the claims are:
  • That the controller will contain gyroscopes.
  • Broadband will be built-in (hey, it's there even if it isn't used). It will also have dual processors.
  • The next Gameboy will connect to it, but the DS probably won't.
  • We can expect four controller ports like always, but also a hard drive, and support for high-resolution displays. Our ears could be rejoicing with Dolby Digital 5.1 channel surround sound support.
  • Finally, Nintendo may be siding with HD-DVD, not blu-ray, and it will be backwards compatible.
Of course, there are the obligatory Mario and Zelda launch title rumours too. Most interesting is the hard drive rumour. The next Xbox will reportedly be ditching the hard drive, so if Nintendo utilises one it could be a blow to Microsoft. One has to wonder, though, with all this new technology, how will they keep the cost down?
