E3 2005: Battalion Wars Info - Gamecube
20th May 2005, 11:46pm
Sorry folks, it appears that this isn't Advance Wars GC. In fact, the developers never intended it to be much like the GBA versions. The Gamecube version is much more action-oriented, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The game sports an almost semi-cartoon-like look, but with each character distinctively different. For example, different types of infantrymen (ie. flamethrowers) etc. look different to their comrades.
Another cool feature is being able to quickly switch between units on the battlefield at any one time with just the press of a button. Each unit is controlled with the left thumbstic, with the C-stick allowing you to move other units. L and R allow you to lock on to enemies and strafe.
It looks neat, but it's not quite the Advance experience we were expecting.
