Wireless Game Pads standard for Xbox 360? - Xbox 360
25th May 2005, 10:55pm
RTX Telecom has announced that it has been chosen by Microsoft as a development partner for the wireless interface to the game pad for Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 will have wireless game pads as standard - the first console manufacturer to do so. The wireless game pad will allow Xbox 360 users to enjoy an unmatched wireless gaming experience with the same speed and reliability as with a wired connection to the console while giving the players full mobility without the need of cables. The wireless interface solution on Xbox 360 has been defined by Microsoft and optimized by Microsoft and RTX. RTX has been responsible for hardware development tools and test equipment supply for mass production under the direction of Microsoft.
The wireless interface solution consists of a wireless base module integrated into the Xbox 360 console connecting with up to four wireless game pads that work as user interfaces for playing games. Linking up to four consoles via an Ethernet/LAN connection allows wireless multi-player gaming with 16 players at a time.
