Ladies Love the DS - DS

 According to Nintendo Japan, the average number of female gamers playing Nintendogs is around 42% - compared with the usual stat of 23%. NCL reports that this is because the DS's main means of control is the touchpad - allowing those who are intimidated by the D-pad and lots of buttons to still play.

The DS has also grabbed older players - Brain Training for Adults is attracting...well, adults. 68% of players are over the age of 25. Nintendo is so far achieving their goal of getting non-gamers to play games, though whether this will take off in Australia is another matter entirely.
