US Software Sales - 2005 So Far

NPD Group revealed yesterday the retails sales for videogames in the US for the first half of 2005. Sales were up 21% in comparison to the same time last year, contributing to a staggering $4.1 billion revenue. Part of this is due to the release of two new consoles - the Nintendo DS and the PSP. Speaking of handhelds, portable hardware, software, and accessories sales increased by 181%, 74% and 81% percent, in that order.Console revenue decreased compared with last year - US$594m, compared to last year's US$631.6m (6%). The top software sellers were:
1. Gran Turismo 4 (PS2: SCEA)
2. Pokemon Emerald (GBA: Nintendo)
3. MVP Baseball 2005 (PS2: Electronic Arts)
4. Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith (PS2: LucasArts)
5. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (PS2: Take-Two)
6. God Of War (PS2: SCEA)
7. Zelda: The Minish Cap (GBA: Nintendo)
8. Resident Evil 4 (GC: Capcom)
9. Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition (PS2: Take-Two)
10. Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith (Xbox)
