Contact Revealed - DS

Those of you who liked what Grasshopper Manufacturer did with Killer 7, then keep an ear out for their next work: Contact, for the Nintendo DS.

The latest issue of Famitsu featured a first look at the new fantasy RPG for the DS. The story begins when an elderly professor uses a strange "element" to build a rocket and blast off into space. He crashes onto a weird planet, and the precious "elements" are scattered across the world. He needs them to rebuild his ship and get back home (**cough** Pikmin **cough**).

A young local guy called Cherry teams up with the professor to help collect all the pieces. Cherry had found a mysterious set of seals on the planet, and so by combining resources he hopes to get back home too. Once Cherry sets out on his journey to find the elements, the professor ends up losing contact with him. The professor asks you to help Cherry find the elements.

In a throwback to Killer 7 the game uses a costume system that lets Cherry use new skills. There are - are you ready - seven in total. Cherry can be transformed with these clothes into a fisherman, cook and pilot, among others. Costumes get levelled up too, so you'll get extra power over time. Cherry discovers that he can stick multiple seals to himself, resulting in added powers. They have be used to attack enemies, as well as capture neat creatures you may want to use later. The producer of Killer 7 is back again in the same role for Contact. A Japanese release is expected in February next year.
