Nintendo is starting spit out DS titles featuring the insanely popular Pokemon characters. Pokemon Torouze, a puzzler that will undoubtedly see a Western release has hit Japan, which will be soon followed byPokemon Mysterious Dungeon. Diamond and Pearl hit shelves next year, but Famitsu has lifted the lid on a fifth title, Pokemon Ranger!

Ranger is a new Pokemon game set in the world of the upcoming Pokemon Ranger movie. The game will link with the true RPGs when they arrive, but focuses on the Pokemon Rangers, who defend nature from evil-doers.

There's a choice of a male or female character in the game, but they're both Pokemon Rangers. They get hold of a new device with an aerial, but we don't know what it does yet. We can assume it's a pivotal item in the story. On the bottom screen is the gameplay, while the top shows items and a radar that highlights Pokemon in the nearby area.

There's a "friend list" with space for seven Pokemon, and each slot has a marker which has an unknown purpose. It's a 2D RPG that uses the grunt of the DS to spit out prettier graphics than we've seen on any of the portable renditions previously. As you navigate through the world, your Pokemon friends tag behind you, Pokemon Yellow-style.

That's about all we know, so when a Western Nintendo branch gives us more details we'll pass them on.
