Our favourite Japanese magazine, Famitsu, has revealed that Konami is developing a title called Elebits for the Nintendo Revolution. In the game, players travel throughout a game world on a quest to find and collect Elebit creatures. The small little guys actually act as the energy source that keeps the world moving. Thus, we can assume the name 'Elebit' is a contraction of Electric al Bit, or something similar.

As you collect more and more Elebits, the game world will evolve. Apparently the title will offer a 'hunting' feel, which suggests that the critters won't be captured easily. Shingo Mukaitouge, the creator of such titles as Guitar Freaks and Drum Mania, is acting as producer. That's about all we know - there was very little about how we play or interact with the game. The article did suggest that the movement of objects on screen will mimic the movement of the controller in real life.

Cryptically, Mukaitouge revealed that the game design orinigated from three key concepts. The first was letting the player feel like they're actually touching the inside of the screen; the second was finding stuff by moving things; and the third was Konami's creation of a new character, the Elebits themselves. The company wanted to make sure that the title could not be replicated on any other system.

Online play is not out of the question, but Konami's aim right now is to get the single-player adventure done. Is this the Pikmin of next-generation titles? We'll have to wait and see.
