Yoshi's Island 2 Hits DS - DS

At its E3 press conference, Nintendo revealed that a sequel to one of the great SNES games, Yoshi's Island, was underway for the DS. It's tentatively titled Yoshi's Island 2, but you can expect that to change before it ships at the end of this year.

The peace of Yoshi's Island is once again ruined when a mysterious floating island materialises in the sky above them. Soon after the cloud appears, a bunch of kids from the island's school disappear, leaving only Baby Mario, Baby Peach and Baby DK. Yoshi and his baby buddies head out to rescue the kids and investigate the looming threat above them.

Initial screens suggest a similar art style to the original, but this time it spans across both screens of the handheld. We no know other details, but you can look forward to more info as journalists at the expo get their hands on it.
