The Cube was basically ignored in favour of some major Wii love, but there were still a couple of new games shwon for the system. That's right, DK and his pals are using those bongos again - but this time in an airborne racing adventure!

Just like Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat, even though bongos are (usually) a musical instrument, here they're your means of control. In DK Bongo Blast you race against other DK characters and Kremlings through 3D worlds on top of rocket powered 'Barrel Jets'. Beating thebongos controlls the character, and your rhythm and speed affects how you swoop, bank and roll through the many various courses. Taking a page from Mario Kart's book (of which DK was playable, of course), items can be used to attack opponents or help yourself. Of course, regular Gamecube pads are supported...but you really should try it with bongos. And remember, this will be fully playable on Wii, too.

The multiplayer mode is a bit different - everyone competes to take out Kremlings in five game worlds. Paon, who developed the underrated DK: King of Swing for the GBA, is developing. Enjoy our ten pictures and 10.7MB Quicktime vid, and check out the aerated action.
