Kojima Offers His Take On Next-Gen - PS3, Wii

14th July 2006, 8:30pm
Hideo Kojima, the mastermind behind Metal Gear Solid, has in the past compared Wii to a TV and a home cooked meal. Now, he feels there isn't a next-gen console that is better than all the rest.

"The PS3 is the future. The Wii is interesting, but in terms of functions, it's a machine with past concepts," he said. "The best thing would be a PS3 with controls like the Wii."

Kojima is frustrated that the PS3's controller doesn't include rumble, and suggested that Sony should allow people to switch between the tilt sensitivity and the rumble. Remember, Sony claimed that the rumble interfered with the motion control, even though the Wii has both with seemingly no issues. A more likely reason is that the company is still tied up in the legal battle with Immersion, who provided the rumble in the Dual Shock.

Additionally, Square Enix's Tetsuya Nomura added his opinion on the price of the system. He suggested that by the time the next Final Fantasy hits the system, he expects the price to have dropped.

'If the hard disk and Blu-ray spread, in line with that, the situation for the PS3 will change in one to two years,' claimed Nomura. 'At the present, it's definitely too expensive, but I believe that when the games are there, it will change naturally.'
