DS Lite Hinge Issues - DS

 MaxConsole has reported that DS Lites have been cracking at the hinge. As you can see on the attached picture from their article, the hinge has split. Nintendo of America said that less than one in five thousand have the problem, and reports suggest that they are handling the issue well. The cracks could supposedly be the result of overtightening of some parts of the system. By calling their customer service department they will pay for your system to be sent in and checked, at which point if the crack is deemed to be a production fault, not caused by misuse, it will be replaced.

Sliced Gaming contacted Nintendo Australia about the issue, and this is what they had to say.

"This is not a problem for the Australian market. We haven't seen any cases like this in our units, and do not expect to."

Meanwhile, Nintendo of America released this statement. “In the U.S., the reported number of small cosmetic cracks in the plastic hinge of DS Lite systems represents less than 0.02 percent of the total units sold. This cosmetic issue in no way impacts the gameplay or integrity of the DS Lite. Nintendo stands behind the quality of our products and encourages DS Lite owners to contact our Customer Service Department if they are not happy with the functionality of their systems.”
