Play with your pets! Yes, Electronic Arts has announced another expansion pack to the ever-popular Sims 2 which introduces pets. The expansion pack allows the addition of your very own fury or feathered friend to your Sims' lives. You'll be able to teach an old dog new tricks, take them for walks, outfit them with annoying pet accessories (fun for the player of course), and apparently even give them a job. Hmmm..A dog that mows the lawn? bring it on!

Some of the features of the PC edition include:
  • 'Create-A-Pet' mode, which will allow you to create your own unique pets by choosing a body shape, markings and personality. Yes, create your own Frankens-Pet.
  • Train your pet. Teach them to sit, stay, beg. Bad pets also may scratch the sofa, eat the garbage or run amok, depending on how they are treated, so train them out of these bad habits.
  • Share special pets unlocked with other The Sims 2 Pets
  • Create designer breeds, and even register them as a unique pedigree.
  • Skilled pets can earn a living with career tracks - show business, security and service. Work through 5 job levels (er, ok).
On PS2, Gamecube and PSP

  • Take your pet for walks in the nearyby parks. Your pets can meet with other pets and owners.
  • Deck your pet in the latest pet fashions at the one-stop Town Center
Nintendo DS:

  • Manage a Pet Care Center, which allows you to take care of all the local neighbourhood pets.
  • Own your own pet store, and help Sims find their own perfect pet. Sell pet products and accessories

Nintendo GBA:

  • Give your Sim a career as a pet handler, whether that be a vet, pet trainer, pet groomer or others
  • Teach your pets tricks and compete in the World Championships.
The Sims 2 Pets will be available for Playstation 2, PSP, Gamecube, Nintendo DS & GBA, and PC in Spring 2006. For PC, you will have to own the original Sims 2 on to use the addon. The Sims franchise has sold a staggering 70M units since its release.
