Sony Australia questions competitors' pricing - PS2, Wii, Xbox 360

12th October 2006, 5:30pm
Michael Ephraim of Sony Australia was recently interviewed in The Age newspaper, where he took the time to question the price points of the Wii and the 360, saying that they're 'a lot to fork out' and 'pricey', respectively.

Ephraim also dismissed claims that the delay for the PAL launch would impact on sales in the long term.

'Even though it's affordable, at AUD $400 plus whatever you need to buy accessories-wise, I'm guessing you need to spend about AUD $500 to take home a Wii and enjoy it.' he said about the Wii.

Ephraim admitted that the 360 had enjoyed a good launch, but maintained that the console was still priced too highly and too concentrated on a 'core group' of gamers.

This was all juxtaposed with the cheap price of the PS2 and its 'Party' range (Eyetoy, Singstar, Guitar Hero, etc), stating that Sony would go all out to market the console this Christmas.
