PS2 milestone - 40 million units sold in PAL territories - PS2

Sony has received a fair bit of negative publicity lately, so here's some positive news for them: they have just announced that they have sold 40 million Playstation 2 systems in Europe and other PAL territories, including Australia since its release 6 years ago. The Playstation 2 also isn't dropping off too much ahead of the release of its successor either, with 100,000 units sold in the last month in these regions.

This now puts it ahead of the very successful Playstation 1, which has sold 39 million units up until now, and sold 33 million units in it's first 6 years.
