Last night, we waited eagerly in line for hours for the Nintendo Wii. EB Chadstone was packed. Over 200 people crowded the area, where Wii's were set up with demos of a few titles including Zelda and Wii Sports.

Luckily enough, we scored a good spot in the line, and by good, we mean 40th. There were easily over 150 pre-order people claiming their Wii at the midnight launch, with reports of up to 400 pre-orders overall at EB Games Chadstone.

Just before midnight, the Nintendo Wii reps went through the queues handing out massive party poppers, which didn't turn out to be loud at all but still added to the midnight launch countdown.

Everyone who pre-ordered the Wii at EB Games scored a free carry case, Wii t-shirt & Wii key chain.

Directly outside the store was a lifesize Link statue (see picture), who EB later announced that they were giving away to one lucky person. Unfortunately though, there was no luck to it. The person that got it was the first person in the queue, who arrived at EB at around 3pm.

There was also a Wii Tennis competition to take part in, and the Nintendo Wii reps were more than happy to play against people who came by themselves in the various Wii demos.

All up, it was a great night, minus the year 10 prom soundtrack they had pumping after midnight for about an hour, and the guy talking on the microphone who nobody could really understand because he had the microphone way too close to his mouth.

We'd like to thank EB Games Chadstone for not only matching the best preorder deal that we could find, but also making it better and cheaper.
