Some Next Generation Stats From the US



Over at industry site next-gen.biz there is some interesting stats on the video game industry. This month (in USD):
Total Industry Sales this month: $1.7 billion
Total Industry Sales this year: $9.4 billion
This year console game sales in November were $804 million vs $702 million the same time last year (up 14%).
The top title was Gears of War, which sold over $1 million copies, and has so far made $61.5 million in sales. Next was Final Fantasy XII at 896,000 units, and $49 million in sales. Third was Legend of Zelda for Wii at 412,000 copies, and sales of $20.2 million. Fourth was Guitar Hero II at 356,000 copies.
In terms of US console machine sales this month:
Nintendo DS - 918,000
Playstation 2 - 664,000
Gameboy Advance - 641,000
Wii - 476,000
Xbox 360 - 511,000
Playstation 3 - 197,000
Sliced Comments: It's a little hard to tell a growing trend for the next gen consoles at this stage, with of course the Wii and PS3 not having a complete month of sales, having just been launched last month. December's figures should be the most telling.
