AMD offers media extender capabilities to PS2 - PC, PS2

AMD has announced that it is going to offer media extender capabilities to the Playstation2 platform as part of it's 'AMD Live' Platform and Active TV streaming service. Via a standard PS2 disc to any standard PS2, this will allow any humble Playstation (with a network port) to stream live media across the Internet, from an "AMD Live" compatible PC.
This capability will allow PS2 users the same sort of leading-edge capabilities that Xbox 360 owners have to play their audio and video media through their Windows XP Media Center PC. They haven't ruled out the possibility of allowing other console platforms the facility to also become Media Extenders for AMD Live.
More information on AMD Live! in general over at the official AMD Live website.
Sliced Comments: With over 100 million PS2 owners worldwide already installed in the home, this makes very brilliant sense, and should prove valuable to those that are on a bit of a budget and don't yet have an Xbox 360. You will require a PC as your primary server to use the service.
