Apple Unveils iPlay (Not Really) - Mac

Today marks a new era in gaming - Apple are entering the market.
The iPlay, due out mid 2008, will offer everything that Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360 owners love, and more. With a 200gb HDD, the iPlay boasts HDMI, 1080p, and will offer gamers a new motion-sensing way to play games, unlike anything seen in the six-axis PS3 controller, or the Wii remote.
Launch titles currently include Core, Bioshock, Final Fantasy
13, Virtua Fighter 5, Sacred 2, GTA IV, Splinter Cell V, Elder Scrolls V, All of the EA 2008 sport games, and rumours are circulating that Mario might even make an appearance, although that seems to only be a rumour.
Core is a First Person Shooter (FPS) that will be Apple's answer to Microsoft's Halo. Apple's Core will offer breathtaking realism on the iPlay, and an unbelievable multiplayer experience. The (Pure Interactive Player) PIP system in development has been asured by Apple to turn parts of Core into an unbelievable gaming phenomenon. With online co-op of up to 8 players, Core will have massive "alien-like" bug monsters that gamers will have to destroy to save the eco-system.
Although these pictures are of a prototype model, gamers can expect wireless controllers, and an online market incomparable to other consoles. Currently codenamed 'iGame', the online market will offer downloadable game demos, trailers & full movies (in Quicktime of course), and more all by browsing a virtual shopping mall, where yourself and other gamers can stroll around, and even have open online audio discussions. Using the iCamera, you can take your photo and incorporate it into the virtual world, so the shops will indeed look just like they do in real life.
The online shopping mall will increase over time, and companies such as EA, Ubisoft, and Warner Bros. will have the opportunity to offer all their game demos, trailers and more in-store. There may also be the option for stores like Pizza Hut and other fast food delivery stores to open their own store in the virtual Apple mall to sell gamers fast food delivered right to their doors.
Prices are currently unknown, but we suspect Apple will tightly pack their unit and try to sell it for a consumer friendly price, much like their iPods. The price tag will most likely be comparable to the Xbox 360's launch price.
