EA Announces Rock Band - Xbox 360, PS3

Electronic Arts are teaming up with MTV to create a massive music title for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. It's Guitar Hero meets SingStar with this exciting brand new title, Rock Band.

Gamers will be able to play the electric guitar, bass guitar, drums and vocals as they perfect their music to hit songs. Bands including Allman Brothers, Joan Jett, Kansas, Nirvana and Wolfmother will have songs in the game, and EA & MTV have promised the songs will not be covers, unlike Guitar Hero.

Not only can you play with three friends at home, you will also be able to jump online and play with, and presumably against, people from all around the world.

Rock Band is due out before Christmas in America - we suspect this means we won't get it until around February 2008, but expect to hear more about this game at Sliced.
