In a recent interview on Gameindustry.biz, THQ CEO Brian Ferrell has apparently stated they are going to begin to back away from releasing the same title on multiple systems in future. Instead they are going to build titles from the ground-up specifically to target the various strengths and target market for each platform. They are hoping this will lead to better games and more innovation in their catalogue.

In the article he also waxes lyrical about his thoughts on the current console battle, so it's worth a read.

Sliced Comments: While some may see it as a step backwards, in a way, it allows the company to offer higher-quality games and not develop a game, and then simply remove features for the less-powerful systems. Also, with the rapidly escalating costs of development these days, no doubt this will help the bottom line. This move may well see higher-quality titles, and more interesting titles, and this can only be a good thing for gamers in the end.
