Bungie announced today in their weekly update a few new pieces of information about the upcoming Halo 3 beta which starts on May 16.

Firstly, a new "Saved Films" feature will be included, where gamers can watch and record replays of the battles they were in. This probably means that we're going to see a lot more Halo 3 Beta videos on the internet once the game is released to the public.

Secondly, there will be split-screen play in the beta testing! Invite a friend over for some Halo 3 beta fun, as this extra sounds LAN worthy.

Lastly, we have an unconfirmed control layout (see picture). Perhaps the Y and RB buttons will be switched around for the final version, as it seems to make more sense having RB for weapon rotation and LB for grenade rotation, but this is the current layout which is subject to change at any time.

While you're all excited, check out this background fresh from the Bungie website. It's a big file, and a great background for wide-screens or people using dual screens!

Bungie also addressed the issue of people who were struggling to download the new Halo 2 maps, and assured them they were working on the problem.
