Sony was in the midst of an uproar over animal cruelty when it launched God of War II in Europe with the decapitated corpse of a freshly slaughtered goat as the centrepiece of the party, the Adelaide Advertiser reports today. Guests were ‘even invited to reach inside the goat’s still-warm carcass to eat offal from its stomach’. Images of the launch were going to be shown in the official Playstation magazine, but after being contacted by British Paper ‘The Mail on Sunday’, Sony issued an apology and recalled the entire print run.

The International Fund for Animal Welfare called the stunt ‘outrageous’, adding that they ‘condemn Sony’s actions… It is stupid and completely unjustified’.
