A bit of a 'maybe', but in a recent interview with the UK's Xbox Live Product Manager - Robin Burrowes in a downloadable magazine 360Zine, he has stated that they would be pushing hard to release the Xbox Live Video Marketplace in Europe later this year. He also talks about several new features to Xbox Live to be released in the May update in a few days, so worth a read.

So far, only North American Xbox Live owners have been able to access the latest TV shows, movies, and other 'on-demand' video content downloads through the "Xbox Live Video Marketplace" via Microsoft points.

As we often follow other initiatives in the European market, it is quite likely Australia could be next on the agenda.

Sliced Comments: The Xbox 360 badly needs this down here in Australia, and it would definitely help sell the 360 as more of an 'all in one' media device. It's limited ability to play only WMV files, without tricky stuffing around, really has limited it as a useful media player so far. The PS3 has the edge here so far, with the capability to run Linux, and play more useful content. Whilst the cost of high download limits is not really helped by the actions of Telstra (and hence affordable downloads of HD-quality video), the possibility would be a good one.
