Microsoft today announced that Xbox 360 software sales have passed the one million unit mark setting a new sales record for Australia and New Zealand.

Daniel Morse, Account Director, GFK Australia, says, "Hitting the one million mark in a mere 14 months means Xbox 360 has reached the milestone faster than any previous console, and is currently outperforming other next generation consoles in terms of software sales. Titles such as "Gears of War", "Saints Row" and "Call of Duty 2", the top three selling Xbox 360 games, have played major roles in the success of the platform."

The console also boasts the highest ever software attach ratio at this point in the lifecycle. After a year in the market, the average Xbox 360 console owner has purchased over 5 Xbox 360 games - a greater number of games than that bought by users of any other consoles.

David McLean, Xbox Regional Director, Australia and New Zealand, says, "Gamers in Australia and New Zealand have embraced Xbox 360 like no other console before because we continue to deliver a compelling range of gaming experiences. With upcoming titles like 'Halo 3', 'Grand Theft Auto IV' and 'Guitar Hero 3', we're ensuring that Xbox 360 will remain home to the biggest names in gaming from Microsoft Games Studios and our third-party publishers."

Edward Fong, General Manager, Ubisoft Australia & NZ, says, "The Xbox 360 continues to be an excellent platform for publishers and developers to work with in delivering genuine next-generation gaming experiences to consumers. At Ubisoft we have been delighted with the response to "Rainbow Six: Vegas" and the "Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter" series, and look forward to bringing new titles such as "Assassin's Creed" and "Splinter Cell: Conviction" to many more Xbox 360 gamers in the months ahead."

There are expected to be over 300 Xbox 360 games available by the end of 2007. The software lineup includes "Halo 3", "Bioshock", "Project Gotham Racing 4", "Splinter Cell: Conviction", "Mass Effect", "Rock Band", "Grand Theft Auto IV", "Guitar Hero 3", "Call of Duty 4", "FIFA 08" and "Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga".
