On industry website gamesindustry.biz, Sony has confirmed that in the next 3.5 firmware update, they will be releasing the 266mhz restriction by the CPU imposed by the firmware. This will allow the console to run at the full 333mhz, as the processor is capable of. It is believed Sony deliberately reduced the processing speed in a move to increase battery life. This extra 25% processing power can be used by developers to enhance any future titles, at the slight expense of battery life.

They didn't respond to any rumours regarding a possible redesigned PSP, which has been circling the net for a while now.
