PS3 Price Drop Confirmed... - PS3
9th July 2007, 3:17pm

...for North America.
Sony has today confirmed that the 60GB PS3 will now cost North American gamers $499, the same price the 20GB model is currently selling for.
However, that's not all the good news that US gamers get: Sony also announced that an 80GB version of the PS3 is coming. Retailing for $599, the larger capacity version will also come with a copy of Motorstorm.
Sony also specifically mentioned that this price drop is for North America only (and Canada, which will be selling the 60GB PS3 for $549). Clearly this is a move to try and boost the struggling sales of the PS3 in the region. Given the popularity of the console here (or the proposed popularity), it' still unclear as to whether or not we'll see the price drop.
