Famitsu, one of the (if not the) largest gaming magazines in Japan has unveiled some details on Resident Evil 5.

Speaking with Jun Takeuchi the producer, Famitsu revealed that the game would feature a gameplay perspective similar to the that of Resident Evil 4. However, Takeuchi also hinted at an addition to the gameplay, one that will be "an obvious evolution for the gameplay".

This time around, the protagonist (Chris Redfield) is sent out into the desert where he must deal with a new type of enemy, one that isn't zombie nor the strange humans in Resident Evil 4. What those enemies are remains to be seen, but Takeuchi (from a translation from IGN) has stated that they'll be "something of human form that has intelligence".

One of the returning characters will be a girl, one that the fans'll recognise. She'll have a fairly major role in the game once it's released.

Finally, Takeuchi has confirmed that Resident Evil 5 will contain iris simulation, similar to that of Half-Life 2: Episode One. For those unaware, it means that when you enter a dark room from a bright room, it will take Chris a moment or two for his eyes to adjust to the light differences, which'll also work in vice versa. As such, expect to fill your pants when you enter a room to discover that you won't be able to see or aim until Chris' eyes adjust.
