Rock Band Confirmed For Wii - Wii
We suspected it for a while - it just made sense that with the Wii's success over the holiday season, EA would be kicking themselves for not getting a version out for the system. Then there was the official Rock Band microphone with a box that said it was Wii compatible. But now, Electronic Arts' CEO John Riccitiello has all but confirmed that Rock Band will be hitting the Wii, having briefly discussed the "coming launch" of the game in a conference call with investors. Hooray!
What should Wii owners expect? Well, that's a very good question. Part of the appeal of the game on the other systems is the downloadable content, of which over 2.5 million tracks have already been downloaded. The problem is that the Wii is notoriously space-limited, thanks to the lack of a hard drive. We'd also be hesitant to go on the record suggesting the full online mode would make the cut too - we're crossing our fingers that it does, but with Nintendo's system, who knows how it will turn out?
