Latest Australian Nintendo Sales Figures - Wii

Nintendo sent word (confirmed by market research company GfK Australia, by the way) that the Nintendo DS has sold more than one million units in Australia, 153 weeks since launch. The Wii is also doing very well, surpassing the 300,000 units mark just 58 weeks after launch. This officially makes these systems the fastest-selling consoles to hit these milestones.
The company rounded out the year in a big way. The DS was the biggest selling console in 2007, selling exactly (!) 509,869 systems, with 133,691 hitting consumer hands in December alone. Meanwhile, the Wii moved 73,318 units in December, making it the second highest selling system for the Christmas period, behind the DS.
The question we ask Nintendo Australia now is 'what will be playing this year?'. Endless Ocean recently hit shelves, but it's a niche game to say the least. The reportedly mediocre Donkey Kong: Jet Race, with what now must be its fourth or fifth subtitle change, hits store this week. There's a beacon of hope with Zack and Wiki for Wii on February 21st, and a hazy mid-March release date for Battalion Wars 2. Meanwhile, the DS has a new Touch! Generations title in Sight Training, which is already in stores. We are also eagerly anticipating Professor Kageyama’s Maths Training: The Hundred Cell Calculation Method, which we can only assume is a zombie-filled action/adventure shoot-em-up. But don't fret - the first Chibi Robo game deemed worthy enough to hit Australian shelves will be available for your DS in March. And then...?
