8th February 2008, 11:32am

According to a reports from various forums and a news article over on IGN, the Australian release of Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 - which many shooter fans were eagerly anticipating - has been crippled. In the US, the game was praised for sporting a nearly unbelievable 32 player online mode and dedicated offline offering to boot. However, reports are coming in indicating that the game's online and offline multiplayer has been removed, and the box description has been changed to reflect this.

We're all waiting word on if this is true, and if so, why it has happened. Stay tuned.

I heard that the online sign up does work? At least someone on Vooks wrote as much, and someone else seemed to agree, maybe?

I dunno. It's a shame.

I think the online sign up works only in Europe.

Apparently there is indeed online in the PAL version - but requires a bit of an annoying EA sign up process to get online.

I heard that still didn't work in Australia.

Lag to servers located in the US probably meant it wasn't a pleasant experience?? Maybe they decided it was not smooth enough, so decided it was best to take it out.

On PC, most games played on servers in the US are pretty unplayable due to the lag and ping time.

Should have got some Asian servers

Pred - I think you can't d/l GH3 songs, that was scrapped (for the time being anyway).

That's cool with me though, apart from the 3 or 4 free tracks, I haven't d/l any anyway. It's not worth it.

How many online games have we had for Wii ?  Not many..

Call of Duty 3 & Guitar Hero 3 all had multiplayer modes on other platforms. Removed for Wii.

No. The point is that Call of Duty 3 for Wii wasn't released in America with online options and had them removed when it came to Australia. This the first instance where the Wii version launched in America with a full multiplayer mode, but it apparently didn't make it here.

Nope, never played it..  Maybe I was getting it mixed up with the controversy of the audio issue or something.

Uh, no?

I've played Guitar Hero 3 online over the net with my brother many times. I don't know where you got that idea Pred, but it wasn't from first hand experience...

As for Medal of Honor, I've got the game, but I haven't gone online with it. Mine is a US copy though, and all the options are there.

That's not really true, I've never heard of any online features being removed from a game before it comes here.

Seems like online Wii is doomed for Australia.. Everything that promises to offer it never comes to fruition or is canned at the last second!

Glad I didn't buy it the other day

Instead I picked up Geometry Wars... which seems to be less intense than retro evolved?
Oh well, it's still fun.
